Opening Prayer (unison from Breakthrough)
Holy One, you have blessed each of us with value, worth and skills.
We give thanks for you and how you work in our lives but often we feel unworthy or unvaluable.
Thank you for seeing our value in every wrinkle we have and in every choice we make.
May we rest in the value you give us
and know our purpose is to honor that value in how we interact with others.
Amen.
Song: I am the Light of the World Chalice #469 v. 2-4
Scripture: Matthew 5:13-16 (English Common)
Today’s reading is from the gospel of Matthew chapter 5 verses 13 through 16.
“You are the salt of the earth. But if salt loses its saltiness, how will it become salty again? It’s good for nothing except to be thrown away and trampled under people’s feet. You are the light of the world. A city on top of a hill can’t be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under
a basket. Instead, they put it on top of a lampstand, and it shines on all who are in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before people, so they can see the good things you do and praise your God who is in heaven.
May God bless this reading and our understanding. Amen

Prayer of Confession (unison by Tim Graves)
We confess it is easy to claim to follow you and much harder to act on it. Forgive us when we forget that Jesus showed us the way. Remind us that though it is hard, you make our journey possible. Thank you for your unending love and your relentless presence. Amen.

Prayer of Consecration & Lord’s Prayer
Our Father/Mother/Creator,
who art in heaven hallowed be thy name. Thy kin-dom come, thy will be done, on
earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as
we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kin-dom and the power and the glory for ever. Amen

Prayer of Thanksgiving (unison)
O Holy God,
we thank you for bringing us together as the body of Christ and through this meal filling us with joy and hope.
May we in the days ahead continue to sing your praises and speak your truth.
May we have eyes to look with your love and compassion.
May our hands which held this loaf and cup be active in your work.
We ask this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
