Continuing God’s Story Together
Continuing God’s Story Together ~ 2025-2026 Theme
“Let this little message be but a reminder, and I will continue with the story”
(2 Maccabees 6:17, Inclusive Bible)
Have you ever wondered what your life would be like if you had made a difference choice somewhere along your journey? Or have you ever thought about or noticed how much your family’s history/story impacts your own?
As Christians the “Jesus story” is our guiding path and we use the Bible to help us understand his story. And Jesus’ story would not be possible without all of the other stories of the Bible. Afterall, the Bible is a book which is made up of many books, each book containing “many stories and laws and prophecies and songs and teachings and other kinds of ancient storytelling.”[1]
For the 2025-2026 church program year we will be focusing on stories from the Bible and how our lives continue God’s story today. We will be using the book God’s Stories as Told by God’s Children by The Bible for Normal People. I invite you to purchase a copy (there are youth and adult versions which have the same text. However the youth version has beautiful illustrations)! The book can be purchased online at www.godsstoriesbook.com or order through your favorite local bookstore.
As you read above our guiding verse is Let this little message be but a reminder, and I will continue with the story from 2 Maccabees 6:17, The Inclusive Bible. It speaks as a reminder that the history of God’s people is not a list of past events—it’s a living, breathing story that we are invited to be a part of creating.
Each of our lives is a story which has been shaped by other’s stories and together we are all a part of God’s story!
The invitation is clear: “Let this be for a reminder… we must go on with the story.”
We are the story, and God’s story continues!
