Circle Time…

Thursday, November 20 we will enjoy one of our favorite programs---“Did You Know?”    And this year the theme will be “Did You Know where I was and what I did in the war”?  Barbara Kashar is coordinating this program.  In addition to several speakers sharing their experiences, she plans to have an exhibit of items from World War II.  If you have either experiences or mementos from this period that you would like to share, please call Barbara, 508 420 3159.  Lunch is at 12:00. Bring a sandwich; dessert and beverages will be provided.

Also in November…

We continue to seek contributions for the Salvation Army “Dress a Live Doll” program.  If you would like to help in providing new clothes and a toy for a child in our area, please speak to Janet Garfield or Connie Holt.

On Friday, November 28, at 10 am, we will be decorating the Chrismon Tree in the sanctuary.  This is a joint project of the Retired Men’s Club and The Church Circle.

Helping Sandwich Families

Your Worship Committee has a special opportunity for you! In the past, before the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, we’ve asked that you bring special food gifts to help replenish the Sandwich food pantry. We’ll continue with this, but we are also hoping, with the help of Sandwich Human Services, to discover a few Sandwich families that could use our help on a more continuing basis. Help with food, clothes, heating costs, or anything else that would make life a little less of a struggle. We are a giving family at First Church and in these difficult economic times, giving becomes even more important in helping us embody the life and lessons of Jesus. So stay tuned…we’ll be in touch.

They that wait upon the lord shall renew
Their strength; they shall mount up with wings
As eagles; they shall run and not be weary;
They shall walk and not faint.

Isaiah 40:31 KJV

Thanksgiving

The river of life toward its end will wend
Perfect peace around some future bend
Downstream we go the past into the past

The end of the journey coming on fast

Yet turn the corner there’s more to be done

Not time to quit another lap to run

Slow the pace and stay in the race

Soon enough to confront the finite face

Be thankful for living these many years
Exulting in the joys tasting the tears

Seek justice and mercy the old prophet said

Walk down the path where the saints did tread

Not over ‘til it’s over as Yogi would say

Time left to help others as well as to play
Spread our love around to all we know
The evolution of peace continues to flow
