Funeral and Memorial Services
The funeral service is an occasion of faith, and although there is sorrow over the loss and separation from a loved one, a funeral service can also be considered a celebration of life.
"For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord." -- Romans 8:38-39
Things to Consider:
It's a good idea to talk to your family about your preferred funeral arrangements in advance. Make a list of instructions, and let your family know where you keep your will and other important papers.
Upon death, the family should call the funeral director and the minister as soon as possible. Our church organist, Maggie Ribb, is available and has the right of first refusal. Although the minister will notify the organist, a family member will need to have a consultation with her directly.
